This policy explains what information Make It a Video collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short and collect as little as we can.
Who we are
Make It a Video is run by Alex Player, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. Contact us at hello@screencandy.online.
The Mac app
- Your projects and recordings stay on your Mac. They’re kept in the app’s library and aren’t uploaded.
- Transcription runs on your Mac using Apple’s speech recognition. Your audio isn’t sent to us.
- Your account. To sign in, we store your email address and the details needed to check your password and your plan.
- Payments. If you buy Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We don’t see or store your card number.
- Updates. The app checks makeitavideo.com for new versions. That request includes the usual technical details any web request does, such as your IP address.
This website
- Email updates. If you sign up, we store your email address, any name and “what will you make” answer you give, your Free/Pro interest and your consent, so we can email you about updates and the Pro launch. Unsubscribe any time.
- Suggestions. We store your suggestion and, if you give one, your email address. Approved suggestions are shown publicly on the ideas board without your email. Votes are counted using a random ID stored in your browser.
- Server logs. Our host, Hostinger, keeps standard access logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics only if you choose Allow analytics. Until then, no analytics code loads and no analytics cookies are set. If you allow it, Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and see which pages help people. We switch off Google signals and advertising features. You can change your choice any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
We also store a few things in your browser that aren’t cookies: your cookie choice, whether you paused motion on the homepage, and your suggestions voter ID.
Why we use your information
- To provide the app and your account (our contract with you).
- To send email updates and to run analytics (your consent, which you can withdraw).
- To keep the service secure and handle suggestions (our legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
Only the providers that help us run the service: Hostinger (website hosting), our server host for the app’s account and email-list service, Stripe (payments) and, if you allow it, Google (analytics). We don’t sell your information.
How long we keep it
Account details for as long as you have an account. Email sign-ups until you unsubscribe. Suggestions until they’re no longer useful or you ask us to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@screencandy.online. If you’re in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
